In many ways, you're right. Doing away with SNA may be disruptive to your
environment. Yes, we did have some commands in much of our custom written
add on's that needed modification. Some of that was addressed by using
command exit point programs. If some program tries some SNA command,
automatically replace it with an alternative. We replaced SNDDST with
SNDEMAIL this way.

My way is only an alternative, not necessarily better. SNA did have some
nice "fire and forget" features. However, when things go bad (like lpar
'x' is down for maintenance) tracking down the problem got to be tiresome.
And oddities like trying to remove a user profile only to find he had
hundreds of distributions pending, from years ago, is still a drag.
