Does a save to virtual DVD run any faster than a SAVSYS to tape? Or is the speed of SAVSYS more a function of the data retrieval and formatting rather than media/I-O speed??

Do be aware that for it to be useful it must be sized to fit a real DVD
disk, *OR* you can put it into an image catalog and use it for an
upgrade. Also with POWER6 and newer you can use them with network based
virtual optical to do upgrades to other partitions.
