As to your first test, I don't think you can just put a UDF on the STRSQL command line and have it work - it's not a valid SQL statement, rather, something you can use IN a statement.

You also need to be sure your RPG or whatever takes in a varying-length parameter - the '02' string will be cast to varying, not fixed, by SQL.

I'm obviously doing *something* wrong, but I haven't a clue *what*.
