Yep this matches what I've seen. One of my customers made such a claim too and he even 'proved' it by putting the entire data set onto Linux and MySQL and showing us that MySQL outperformed DB2. Problem was, he was the ONLY user hitting his Dual Processor MySQL/Linux system while the full onslaught of public users were banging away on the single core POWER5 system during his test. Even then he only 'won' by a few percentage points.
