Actually you're comparing a used console price to a new hmc price. Gee a

And you're comparing a very subjective opinion "rock-solid". I beg to
differ.
And you're comparing something which would not even work. One, can a
Power 7 run twinax? Two, on a low end machine do you really want to
install a separate twinax card for each lpar? Three, how do you configure
multiple lpars from a 5250 twinax console?

You'd have been better off suggesting a screwdriver. It wouldn't have
done the job either, but it is quite useful for other tasks.

Uh. Okay.

I take it you missed the "grinning, ducking, and running" part. <smile>

The twinax was outstanding for its day, has a few niche uses today (including my home machine), and is entirely superseded by the HMC. The HMC is great stuff. Not EVERYONE needs it, but great stuff!
