Jeff, you can run the cables to have the other pc act as the console but you
can only have 1 active at one time. You might want to check your SST
settings to see if you have it setup where that you can take over the
console from someone else who has it.

As I've mentioned before, I've been planning to switch from Ops Con direct
to Ops Con LAN.

Today My PC (ops con direct) was low on virtual memory so I rebooted it.
After that, ops con would not connect and I couldn't figure out why, so I
opened a PMR.

When "Ed" called me from Rochester I told him what was wrong, my plan to
soon change to ops con LAN, and that I had poked around in STRSST for that
purpose. But was pretty sure I hadn't mucked anything up. He asked me if
I
had the cables I needed for ops con LAN and knew what I wanted
network-wise. I said yes. He then suggested that he walk me through the
whole changeover to ops con LAN as that could be done about as quickly as
troubleshooting ops con direct. I said "Doesn't that require an IPL?" His
response was "Not the way I'm able to do it!"

To make a long story short we enabled the T5 port, I installed the ethernet
switch, ran cables, and viola, I'm on ops con LAN.

This afternoon I'll run another cable to another office PC and I'll have a
2nd PC that can be the console. With 2 NIC cards in each PC, the console
stuff is on a completely different network as well. Thanks to Pete
Massiello for that idea many months ago.

Sometimes you just get lucky.
