Well, that shoots down my idea. The ultimate server is 60 miles away, and there is no access to it by low level folks like me. But, I do not understand how another server here can connect to it, without logging on. It and the remote server are in different domains. Further, I was able to browse the remote server yesterday from my pc, with no login to the remote site - doesn't mean I would have been able to see content, though.

You are correct that the windows server is indeed controlling the
security. That is where the file actually resides. Make a local
profile on the windows server that matches the user profile that the
iSeries job runs under.

We have to do a file transfer to a Windows server. The people running
that server do not want to mess around with "tricky" stuff like FTP.
So, currently, file is sent to a Windows server here and a BAT file
forwards it to the other server. Not optimal, as there is no obvious
way to know when a password has expired.

QNTC seems like a possibility. But, I am having an issue.

How do I create the directory using a specific share name?

If I omit the share name, then I see nothing. Which could mean that
some service is not running. But, the command does not end in error. I
have checked the share name used on my pc. Case matches. There is no
user login needed on the server I am testing (real secure.....).

Only thing I can see when working with authority is that it is owned by
QDFTOWN and I am not allowed to modify authority. But, I am allowed to
create and remove the directory.

Makes me think that the Windows server is controlling the security,
since I am using DTAAUT(*RWX) OBJAUT(*ALL).

This was a test case. I have no access to the target server, was just
experimenting on a local server that I do have access to.
