Hi All,

I am creating XML documents on the i using the CGIDEV2 library. I am having problems with special characters. So I created a file to lookup the character and return the translation. For example if I lookup 1/4 it returns &#188. The problem I have is that when someone enters a left bracket for example, the display shows "[" correctly but in the file it shows a cent sign "¢". The hex in the file is "4A" which is indeed a cent sign.

The display file has a CCSID of 37, as does the field in the file and my lookup file. Can someone explain to me why this is translated like this?

Thanks very much...
- Steve
