Over the 10+ years that I have been associated with the Midrange-L, it has been thoughtful people like Simon who keep be coming back.

I never met Simon in person, but I would seldom pass up the opportunity to read one of his posts – regardless of the topic. Simon was one of the bright lights on this board, and it saddens me to see that light dimmed.

In his honor, I will donate bits to the “ASCII Ribbon campaign against HTML E-Mail”

Some of you may have noticed that Simon has not been frequenting the forums
of
late. Truth of the matter is that for the last few months he has been
fighting
a very virulent form of cancer and just didn't have the strength to sit at
the
computer for more than a few minutes.

Sadly this was a battle he couldn't win and he died quietly on Tuesday. I am
just grateful that he had the strength to talk to Susan and myself for
nearly
an hour last week when he spotted that we were on-line on Skye.

I'll miss his wit, his wisdom, and his forthright nature. He was a good
friend
and colleague and a brilliant programmer.

G'day mate - it was great knowing you.
