You can now use a FastCGI implementation to process PHP requests on the IBM i. What this means is you no longer have to run two Apache instances (one natively and one in PASE) that communicate with one another using a reverse proxy configuration. All you need to do is install Zend Server and configure the native Apache instance to process PHP requests using a FastCGI PHP handler.

Note this document needs to have its software requirements section updated. Zend Server was released after this document was originally created so this document still mentions Zend Core.
