I would be curious as to what authentication they are talking about.

Regardless, people were running PHP on our systems long before Zend Core
was available. The trouble is, you have to download the source code for
the PHP engine and compile it yourself in PASE. There is an old redbook
on how to do this at
http://publib-b.boulder.ibm.com/Redbooks.nsf/RedpieceAbstracts/redp3639.html

The problem is, this redbook is for installing PHP4 which is very
outdated. You should be able to follow the installation process detailed
in the redbook and use the newer source, but I can't guarantee you won't
hit a few speed bumps.

Brian,

Operations tells me that the way Zend handles authentication doesn't
conform to our corporate security policies. As a result, we can't install
it on our system. I don't think this a battle I can win.

I want to try some web stuff with PHP. If we can't install Zend I'd like
to look at alternative ways of doing it.
