No problem. Just stating the facts.

... and I don't think you were too harsh. My experience is that most RPG people don't know what is happening outside their RPG world. There are just noticing things they get put before their nose from IBM.

HUGE collection of runtime code ... it is there but not necessarily for RPG. I am still missing a lot of things. F. e. we were giving a way for doing modularization but not the tools for exchanging the data/result sets between the modules/procedures (... and no, fix sized arrays won't work most of the time).

if Java is the end-all be-all

It ain't, but it is much closer to it than RPG. That is one of the reasons we are doing much maintainance in RPG and new stuff in Java (running not on IBM i).

Thanx for your support :)
I was a bit harsh, i know, but i'm not depressed, rather frustrated.
I know Java, I know OO, HTML, I even programmed in Smalltalk for 5 years in the 90's, so i know what i'm talking about.
And i'm not depressed, as i have a future

I don't think that you really used the Java Editor in Eclipse on a day-to-day basis (... yes, you didn't said it, i know) because then you would know how much RDPi sucks compared to the Java Editor in Eclipse.
