I have exactly the same experiences (or should i say frustrations).
Not that i'm hiring; but i am exceptional in that i have a
motivation.Other collegues (like 99%) have this mind set.

Huh? 99% have which mind set?

RPG programmers are nice people, but they are no software
developers, and do not have the motivation a software
developer should have: develop software, in a good way, and -
of course - have the motivation to educate themselves, simply
because they like what they do. But they don't; and see their
job as "translating requirements" into RPG syntax. I don't
want to bother explaining

On behalf of us RPGers, thanks for the <nice people> bit, but you really should <bother> explaining now you've made your statement.
