Since the current configuration is not known so only a possible
configuration can be told .

A media policy is a function of Retention period , media class and move
policy . So if you set these 3 imp parameter correct then you media will
follow the desired movement .
Like a sample media policy can be named as ULTRIUM3 which will have
retention period of 14 days and move policy as Offsite.

So to define this in media policy (ULTRIUM3) select value of 2 at retention
type and Retain media as 14 , Move policy as Offsite and media class as
*ULTRIUM3 or F4 for list. You can leave Storage location here as *ANY but
better would be Media library location.( this defines from which location
backup will pick its media)

Now check you move policy for "Home location" parameter. It should be set to
*HOME for Stand alone tape drive or "Media Library location" in case of
media library .So that media movement reports brings the expired volume to
correct location from where your backup will pick up expired volumes.

Mark "Verify Moves" as NO so that as soon as retention completes you media
logically changes its location after MOVMEDBRM has run . But make sure that
media movement is done physically also by tape ops on the same day .

You just need to define this media policy in your control group attributes .

If you have above things correct then your media will expire on time and
will become available when time comes. Your System Policy and Backup Policy
can be overridden at Control Group Level . So in case you want to run FULL
save daily and not incremental just change the " Default Weekly Activity "
parameter on Control Group attributes as "FFFFFFF" for daily full save.

Yes you can copy STRMNTBRM command as set up on other system but just
understand what all parameters are set in it like MEdia Movement. Once you
are clear on all this backup would become very easy to schedule.

BRMS is very nice product and helps in managing backups very easily and
effectively. A review of BRMS for V5R4 would be beneficial .
