could it be that you are attaching the tape drive to the same SCSI channel that the load source is on, and it has the same SCSI device id as the load source?

I believe this SRC is when the system loses contact with the load source.
Not a good SRC !!!

Subject: SRC A60x0255

Hello everyone,

I have an 810 at V5R4M5 that is standing alone, with just a twinax console
attached to it.

Today when I connectted a 3581-H17 Tape Drive to it, the console locked up
and I got a SRC A6040255, A6050255 and now a A6020255 on the front panel.

I tried googling these and get Italian web hits, and tried finding the
exact cause in the InfoCenter, to no avail.

Does anyone know what this means, and also where I can find the meanings
of ALL SRC codes?

I have now disconnected the tape drive from the system.

Thanx,

Nick
