Good diagnosis as always, Doc. I have to get the server up before I try anything seriously hinky. Maybe it's just a loose cable. Darn thing was working before the power went out. (Garbage truck manage to snag a low-hanging power cable and tear down not one, but TWO utility poles within a block of my house -- one was two doors down.)

Bah! Once the battery has failed there IS no cache :-) As a consequence nothing in it needs to be flushed. On a 270 it's likely a 2778 or 2748 RAID card. For the 48's (and earlier) batteries plus will have them on the shelf for the 78's they can make one for under $20.

The issue I see is Joe's sever lack of console. Cursor in upper right (as I recall, I haven't used a twinax console in years) means no connection. You need to check the cables and such until you get cursor upper left. Then you should have console, el-quicko.

But the critical part is flushing the cache so you don't lose data. It has been discussed here before - I don't remember the specifics (our CE always does these for us) - check the archives.

Joe,

You will be running slower until you replace the battery....

I shut down my box, drove over to the Batteries Plus store with the
battery pack and they built me one in about 10 minutes for $15.

It's evidently that time of year. We lost power here and I had to shut
down my model 270, which hasn't seen an IPL in months. Well, when it
came up a couple of issues appeared.

First, my console won't connect. Not sure what that's all about and not
sure how to diagnose it. The tube is connected with the cursor in the
upper right corner. CTL01 shows DSP01 in Vary on pending status, and
nothing else. But my startup procedure fires up TCP/IP and that is
working just fine.

More problematic is that I got the dreaded CPPEA12 and STRSST says that
my battery cache is in error condition. I don't remember seeing any
warnings, but that's probably my bad. In any case, can anyone remind me
of just how much pain I'm going to be in (I seem to remember it's a
relatively painless process, but not one to be undertaken lightly - you
need to know where to exert a little extra pressure). Also, anybody
know the going rate for one of these puppies? Is there a "home
enthusiast" alternative? :)
