Have you looked at the _ltoa() function in the C/C++ run-time? This
will convert a number into a string representing that number in any
base from 2 to 36. The function is callable from RPG with the correct
prototype.

Ahh ... I see from later appends that you aren't actually after a base
31 conversion but some mongrel variation with removed characters.

Still, knowing about this function may help.
