To respond to Scott's idea about using something tested on 6.1 - the program conversion deal is the same at 7.1, so if it runs on 6.1, it should do so on 7.1 - unless there is something in the Memo to Users that points out something. At least for us, there was nothing obvious to cause any problems. But we're not Kronos, of course!

Hmmm..

Being a leading timeclock vendor you would think they would be doing
their testing and would be in-the-know.

Did you ask if they had heard of OS/400 V7R1 or perhaps iSeries or i5.
Maybe they haven't caught up to the new IBM i terminology :-)

subject: Kronos on IBM i 7.1

Trying to get all of our ducks in a row in preparation to upgrade from
5.4 to 7.1.

Spoke to Kronos, who supplies one of the packages we run, and the person
we spoke to had never even heard of version 7.1. He spoke to his
manager, who had (at least) heard of 7.1, but they hadn't installed or
tested their software on it.

Great. Why is there always a roadblock from a vendor when it comes to
upgrading this stuff?!

Of course, I could load the version that's been tested on 6.1 and try to
use it on 7.1, and hope everything works properly. I was wondering if
anyone out there has tried this? What sort of results have you had?
