Larry,

If you don't use SNTP, yes, I suppose the answer would be 'no'. Of course,
you can go always the old timer's way: check QTIME every once in a while and
adjust it accordingly :-)

Luis,
I understand the time on the system is coming from QTIME sysval.
What I am being asked is whether once QTIME is set, does the system ever
'synch' to a time again to make sure it is accurate.

If I do not use the SNTP, would the answer be no?

Thanks, Larry

Larry,

There is, of course, the QTIME sysval. Also, you can use SNTP (Simple
Network time Protocol) in order to sync it. This last option is
particularly
convenient for countries who have DST time changes.

Hello all,
I'm not sure how to answer this question. Does anyone know how
our
systems (I, iSeries, etc) get their time. I don't remember setting it
when
first turning it on. Does it get the time from the network, and if so,
where?
Does it ever 'synch' to make sure it is still accurate?

Thanks, Larry
