Users need an app to add data!, want to Update data. Want to delete
records! Ain't got time to wait on I.T. dept to write an app with
business rules.
Solution: grant the users command line and SQL privileges with
UPDATE/DELETE.
Yippee! Our I.T. backlog is eliminated!
Training session #1: Update Item Master Branch to make a few items
obsolete but neglected to use the WHERE clause.
Whoops. Update all records, and all items are obsolete now. Restore
from tape to a temp lib fix the obsolete flag field with a "WHERE EXISTS
yada, yada"
<sheepishly> that is your first training lesson!
<grin> well, maybe we won't expect user community to do database access
with STRSQL after all!
