Try pinging that ibm i using that same name. For example
CALL QCMD
Type command, press Enter.
===> PING MYOTHERI

If you get "Unknown host, MYOTHERI." then you should update your DNS to
include that name.
If you don't know where your 'from' system i gets it's dns it's in here:
CFGTCP
12. Change TCP/IP domain information
F10=Additional parameters
Page down
Domain name server:
Internet address . . . . . . .
Internet address . . . . . . .
Internet address . . . . . . .

I could show you how to add a host table entry to support that but we'd
rather you do it the right way. You'll appreciate it in the long run.

Don't know the address of your DNS? Try this from your PC
Start, Run, Open: CMD,
C:\>nslookup myotheri
It should return something like
Server: yourdns.yourdomain
Address: 10.10.4.250

Put that IP address as one of the three on the previous CFGTCP screen.
Now, I know that some i admins have a real phobia about talking to their
network people but I suggest you try and ask them if there's a couple of
others to fill in the other two spaces. Just in case the first goes down
or something.
