I'm not Scott, but I took a quick look at his article, and it looks like the number of carets has nothing to do with the number of parms -- instead, it is determined by the number of times the & has to be "interpreted" by the bat file. If once, you use
one caret (^&); if twice, you theoretically need two carets, but since the second caret has to get past the first "interpretation", you really need three carets (^^^& will be interpreted to ^&); if three times, you'll need four more, or seven carets
(^^^^^^^& -> ^^^& -> ^&). if you need n carets for a given number of interpretations, you'll need to add n+1 if you add one more interpretation (one each for the carets you want to be preserved after the first interpretation, plus one for the original
ampersand).

I copied what he used and it works, however I have an extra parm(you
wouldn't think it would be this difficult to figure out) and can't
figure out the proper use of the ^ for all parms. .

Scott, if you see this, could you explain how to determine the number of
^ for each parm. Or point me somewhere I can read about this. It seems
simple, I'm just not hitting the correct combination.
