Reading the 7.3.5 and 7.7.1 Upgrade instructions gives you a couple of
options. I haven't fully explored them yet...but the 60,000 ft level appears
to be..

Enable Remote Secure Shell login
Login using SSH
Issue a cmd to FTP the images from IBM directly to the HMC
Tell the HMC to boot from those downloaded images.
Apply any updates

If you're on 7.3.5 you can go to 7.7.1 using the PTF installation process.

Other procedures require you to boot from CD.

You can also fit an RSA Slimline card into the HMC, which will give
you remote KVM and virtual CDRom.

Or you can use an IP enabled KVM Switch that supports virtual CDRom,
like IBM's Global Console Manager.
