I work for a company that has a product for Managed File Transfer (that's the market niche name for what you are trying to accomplish). Our All-Ways Secure product manages the sending and receiving of files using s/FTP, FTPs, or with PGP. It supports the use of passwords, certificates, or asymmetric keys. There is also a rich feature set of automation capabilities allowing you to do a "lights out" implementation whether you are sending or receiving files.

In most cases the time it takes to download, configure, install and transmit your first file is under an hour (so you still have time to make your meeting :-)

I would prefer to use sFTP, as I am doing that now. But, that does not appear to be an option.

My employer passes thru a private network to a corporate office and from there to the outside world. They are very picky about ports and IP addresses, requiring advance clearance for any port or address.

Is there a redbook detailing how to set up FTPs properly? I have read references over the past few months about certificates, but have no experience with this.

With time being a factor, I am not sure Scott's FTPAPI would be an option. Would it, though?
