I have found on small systems as well as large systems that the image Cats
are quicker. Yeah, I understand when you say more disk I/Os, but the disks
are much quicker than the DVD. Make sure you get the latest 6.1.1 B that
just recently came out for your I_BASE_01, and there is a newer version of
the B2924_01 which came out a while back, both of these will apply less PTFs
(since they are already on and hence make the backup quicker).

Subject: 5.3 to 6.1 on Small 520 - DVD or Image Catalog?

I have a client that has a small ( 500CPW ) 520 with 3GB memory and 2 pairs
of 35GB drives Mirrored. Any have any idea if using an Image Catalog will be
faster on this system? I normally use Image Catalogs when I can where I can
load them up and start the upgrade and go get a nap whille it spins away
doing the upgrade. This upgrade is time sensitive and the less time I spend
the better. So would it be faster to come from the DVD's directly minimizing
the Disk I/O?

Thanks
