We use ssh from our iSeries to move the tape drive.

The tasks on the HMC seemed 'fragile'. Also, when they failed there was either no log, or what log was there was less then helpful.

NOTE: I found that once you have ssh set up and know the DRC indexes of the things you want to move, it's pretty simple.
