Just to clarify - WDSC was never a for-fee utility. WDSC was always free, but there was "advanced" version (WDSCAE) with some more EJB stuff (and the first pass of the screen designer).

I think if IBM had just spent the time finishing up the screen designer and the print designer and repackaging everything, they could have easily justified the move to a separate price, but hindsight is always 20/20...

You can get a lot more help on the WDSc list so I'm cross-posting there.

In short, WDSc was available around V4 as a "for pay" utility. Beginning with V5R1 (I think) it was bundled with the programming tool set.

With V6R1 RDi replaced it. Not sure what the charge is (it's a moving target).

WDSc came on CD's (about a dozen) in a plastic binder of that size. Check with your sys admin or whoever keeps the system software stuff. It, also, has Code/400 which contains the designer for displays and printers.
