First determine if you are running V5R4 (or earlier) or 6.1 as this will
dictate what install media you should have.

I'm on V5R4 and use WDSCi Version 7. Unless you are at 6.1 and have RDi
you will NOT want to use anything other that WDSCi Version 7.

I ran WDSCi V7 on an eight year old pentium IV with 1.5gb of ram (and a
7200 rpm hard drive) and performance was acceptable.

To start the install be prepared to allow significant time for the install
(which depends on the speed of your pc). Also be sure that you only
install the RSE components - which means you will need to deselect the
options for webfacing and some other options I don't recall at the moment.
This should require loading from two cd's.

Once the install completes you will need to upgrade it to get the most
recent updates and this requires you to install the Installation Manager
as that's the mechanism for getting updates (and IIRC the Installation
Manager updates itself to a more recent version). This is a tedious
process but well worth it once you get everything up and running.

Be patient and don't get discouraged. This tool set is well worth the time
it takes to learn to use it.

Thanks!

Regards, Jerry
