Jerry,

I tried to connect with FTP via the System i and with a PC. It still did
not work. I do wonder what the difference is between that, and using the
SNDPTFORD and i5/OS connecting on its own. The transmission method of the
SNDPTFORD is all hidden, so I don't know how it gets transferred from IBM.

As I have used this method, I have found that it is easier than any other I
have tried, and seems to be mostly fail proof. I have not seen any failures
yet, and have (so far) ended up with disk images to load. If I wanted, I
could also schedule this to automate the retrieval of group ptfs on a
regular basis, with a reminder message to me when the job is run. I am
thinking on a monthly basis.

I have yet to put this plan into place.

Jim,

Are you connecting to the FTP site via a browser? I, too, have had
problemss with that method; I think it's an issue with our firewall. Same
with Download Director.

I changed my process to use FTP directly from the System i and downloaded
directly to the image catalogue folder. Submit it before I leave work and
never have a problem.
