I do not recall the inquiry message identifier nor the situation(s) for which it arises, but as I recall, the issue can be resolved by...

Change the job description used by the connection to use "inquiry message reply handling" of "system reply list entries" [CHGJOBD TheJobD INQMSGRPY(*SYSRPYL), and add an appropriate reply value [ADDRPYLE] for that inquiry message; i.e. establish a reply which effects the cancellation or continuance of the operation, according to what is the desirable effect. Alternatively, one could set the INQMSGRPY(*DFT) for the job [via the *JOBD; CHGJOBD as above] and set the message default reply value with CHGMSGD.

I know this forum does not handle IDA questions, but I think the
problem I'm having is on the iSeries side.

When my application programmer connects to the i-series using
IDA the request (DROP SCHEMA) creates a waiting message (active
journal open) but does not pass it back to the IDA session for
the programmer to see. Do I need some special setting for the
user profile to pass this message back to IDA? The user can sign
on to the 5250 session and reply to the outstanding message as a
work around.
