I do where I work now... However, that development box supports three production servers, so DASD on this partition is always in short supply. Limited resources (and concern for the availability of the development server) make casual installation of software a no-no. Is it really so different elsewhere?

You don't have Dev/Test environments?

We have three - V5R3 (Test only), V5R4 (Current product), V6R1 (next
product), V7R1 (technical testing).

And i work for a 35 people shop.
