Rhishabh, is your customer's system partitioned?
And do you know how many processors are activated?
I like to use the Performance Capabilities Reference found at
http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/i/advantages/perfmgmt/resource.html to
look up CPW ratings (see Appendix C) and find lots of other useful
information. This reference has just been updated for POWER7.
However we would still need to know how many CPUs are active in the
customer's LPAR, if partitioned.
I'm happiest when customers take advantage of the free IBM service
"PM for Power Systems" (see:
http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/power/support/perfmgmt/activation.html
to activate it.) This collects and summarizes performance data from
your iSeries by LPAR. It will tell you how many CPUs are allocated
to the LPAR and how many CPW are available and are being consumed. I
EASY400.net.can't remember which reports are free and which are fee but

show you sample reports.

We use MMAIL here, but it will only hold 50 recipients.
Our old system would convert the spool files to PDF's and mail them
(or fax them), but we have evolved to where the users are creating
their mailings in various methods, outside the system i (DAMN THEM TO
paste.H...!) Really, all I have on the system i is the list. I thought
about just mailing a .csv to the user, with instructions to copy and
some alternative.EASY400.net.

Of course we all have been there... Knee deep in some complicated
logic then someone knocks on your "door" and asks a question. Now not
only do you have to talk to them (maybe even help them) but now you
lost your train of thought. You have to recollect your train of
thought and maybe redo a large debug because you lost your place.
That is time wasted.
There is a simple solution, no interuptions faster development times.
The problem is that for 99% of the shops out there this isn't
feasible or possible.
I like Joel's idea of every developer has their own office with a
door. If you need to concentrate, you shut the door.
My only problem with working from home is distractions. However, if
it were to become a full-time office, I would make changes to cut out
some of the distactions.

Anyone have a link to any Professional or 'proof' articles
regarding the 'environment or setting' required for an IT Developer
to get his work done?
I now work one day from home each week, and that is the ONLY day I
can truly say I can get into the huge Analysis/Design/Programming
part of my duties.
I am lobbying for more time telecommuting. When at work, and
having just a cubicle, there is NO WAY I can ever get into these
development duties. I
am a one man show with 60 PC users, and the worst part is that my
boss is scared to death about a PC being physically down - because
my work is 40 miles from my home.

One should almost never use a logical file in a query - SQL has
always ignored it and had to go back to the PF, then figure out which
index
(LF) to use, by its own wisdom.
SQE will never be used if you specify a logical file. The only time -
before 6.1 - to use a logical is if it were a select/omit thatfile. I will try to put together a CTE for the rank now.
matched your WHERE clause, maybe. In 6.1 there are better
alternatives - like a sparse index - I think that's the term.
