Hi Simon,

You make it sound very simple - but I still don't get it.

This is the definition of the field.
USERNM GRAPHIC(10) CCSID 13488 DEFAULT NULL ,

Not sure what you mean by DBCS version. Is there any specific option to
install this ? We have the V5R4M0 version & we are allowed to change the
'Host code-page'.

There are not messages in the job log. I guess DFU does not handle this
data.

Thanks & best regards
Ewart

Any if you tried creating a DFU for maintaining a file having field
type G
???

Just tried it on VRM530. Worked OK for me but I did have to:

a) Use a DBCS version of PC5250 (5.7)
b) Set my job CCSID to something compatible with the
CCSID of the
Graphic data type
c) Set the IME to my desired input form--I used both
Hiragana and
Wide Latin.

When I tried that I get all 'junk' displayed as data on screen as
pasted
below. Since Query/400 works with this data type I thought DFU too
would
work - unfortunately it seems DFU does not acknowledge this data type.

User : à â ä ê + è
Trans No : ê à â ( ñ +
Line No : 1000
Batch No :

That would seem to be a CCSID problem. See if there are any messages
in the job log related to CCSID conversion.

Is your Graphic data type simply for DBCS or have you also specified a
Unicode CCSID for the field? Perhaps DFU doesn't handle the Unicode
form?

I want to avoid writing maintenance programs for such data. Anyone
have
any ideas ???

We are on V5R4.

PTFs?

Regards,
Simon Coulter.
