I want to thank EVERYONE for their replies
I read the article that Scott Klement sent me, and I have placed it into my
browser favorites (I have a TON of those) for future reference
I have been doing some "testing" by editing a file in the ifs and using the
CPYFRMIMPF into a QTEMP file that I created (I know what the format of the
expected data should be AND what fields to expect)
I've even attempted the same procedure with data that is NOT what is
expected - just to see what errors I could possibly encounter.

I must admit - I'm leaning towards using what Vern suggested (using
CPYTOSTMF with CPYFRMIMPF into a QTEMP file) making sure to handle any
errors encountered

However, saying that, if I hit more problems than expected I will go back
to Scotts article

Again MUCH appreciated
