Community and Networking. Trevor Perry was the manager until he got on the Common board last year. The "charter" of the CaN is to promote, encourage, organize, and cajole Common members and conference attendees to gather in person AND virtually in order to keep a "community" spirit going. The whole idea is that the value of Common is NOT just the technology that binds us, but also the stuff we do together, not only at conferences (CUDS, CUDS2, CUDS3...) but also online.

It is getting tougher to "sell" the community aspect of Common, especially the value of face to face meetings, but when it comes down to it, it is the relationships that keep the i community together, not just the technology. CaN is there to promote that for Common.

Mike,

Like all the other folks who chimed in, Brian May and Justin Porter are the go to guys. As CaN manager, I am responsible for the YiP's (NOT their behavior, just the program!) along with RiP's and iSIG's. So have him at least drop an email to me so that I can follow up with him after the conference. We are really trying to make sure we are hitting the right notes when it comes to the "social" and community aspects of Common, so I am always curious about people's impressions, especially first timers and the "younger" generation.

It looks like it is going to be a great 50th anniversary conference! Too bad the economy isn't cooperating. Those that make the sacrifice to go, however, won't be disappointed.

I am sending a relatively new, young developer to his first COMMON

can be sure to direct him to check out? I want to be sure his first COMMON
is a memorable and productive one.

Thanks
