Yes that is what I mean. You may not be able to create the .ssh
subdirectory in the root directory. When I ran the command, it create a
directory under /home/chrisb/ called .ssh and put the rsa key there.

I just ran it the way you did on a new V5R4 install that is completely
up to date with PTF's and it generated the key with no errors. I ran it
with a *SECOFR profile.

When you say my "default path" do you mean the home directory on my user
profile?
I actually tried to do this under two user ids...
One just has "/" as home directory and the other has "/home/userid" as
you described, with my user profile ID, if that's what you mean.
