Kirk is right in that the *FIXED/*CALC choice and the QPFRADJ option have nothing to do with each other.

QPFRADJ controls whether the system performs tuning automatically, changing activity levels and storage pool sizes as needed.

The *FIXED/*CALC choice determines which paging algorithm is used. *CALC gives better performance for jobs that read files sequentially.
As a result, it should be used for *SPOOL and usually for *BASE. It anticipates which pages will be read next and tries to keep them in memory together.
*FIXED gives better performance when the pages are needed randomly.
