Bare minimum would, I think, be the last Cume. There may, also, be certain groups (Security comes to mind) and some individual PTF's (I have a vague recollection of there being an important PTF for image catalogues on V5R3).

Isn't V5R3 out of maintenance? If so, can Jack even get *any* PTF's for it? I got as far in Fix Central as being able to select V5R3, but didn't try to actually download anything. PSP, also, allows selection of V5R3, which could be helpful identifying those important PTF's.

i faced a similar situation when i got to this place. the sys admin was
well over 2 years behind on PTFs. i applied the bare minimum (i.e. not
all) of PTFs required and upgraded to V5R4 and applied the latest CUM,
group and hipers after the upgrade.
