I'm sure some of you have heard the Ernie Ball guitar string story:

I have to love these attempts to get back in the good graces of their
customers. It just doesn't work for me. We migrated to a new box and

paid the ridiculous amount Extol asked. At the time I told the sales
rep that they were burning their bridges. He didn't care at all.

Extol did promise that when we migrate to a new ERP package (and a new

box), that the fee will be minimal. They even agreed to give us the
JD Edwards plug-in for free as recompense for what happened. Doesn't
matter.
Extol won't be making the transition. Until they cut my business a
check for the money they collected 2-3 years ago, apologies and
promises to be better are meaningless.

Understandable sentiment, but doesn't it equate to cutting off your nose
to spite your face? Reminds me of a corporation president that, when he
heard that SSA/GT wanted almost a million dollars to provide a new key
during a machine transition, promised SSA they would never see another
dollar from any of his companies. The result? They went to JDE and
spent over 5 times as much performing the transition.
