Unless I am misunderstanding you I say absolutely not! If you do a
CRTPRXCMD on one command and do a CHGCMDDFT on the proxy command you have
also just changed the defaults on the main command. Where I find proxy
commands useful is for cases like
1: IBM command CRTBNDRPG is in QDEVTOOLS. Proxy command CRTBNDRPG in
QSYS is just a pointer to that.
2: VENDLIB/VENDCMD has a product library specified on it. However the
command is only in VENDLIB. Previous releases you had to CRTDUPOBJ into
QUSRSYS or some such thing. And every time the vendor issued a new
release you had to copy the command again. Now you can CRTPRXCMD and the
one in QUSRSYS instantly reflects the changes. I did that with the MIMIX
command.
