The DVD's themselves wouldn't have ISO images on them. At least, not

You basically have two options. 1) You can use something like imgburn
to convert the multiple files that are on the DVD's into an ISO image.
Then that image can be transferred to the IFS and mounted. or 2) You
can put the DVD into the optical drive on the i and run the addimgclge
command with the *FROMFILE option which will do basically the same thing
except it will do it on the i.
I have seen some (rare) cases where an image burning application is
installed on the PC that allows you to "copy" a DVD/CD by right clicking
it and taking the option to "copy" the image, but under the covers it is
just running an image burning program that *creates* the ISO image from
the multiple files on the DVD/CD. DVD/CD's by themselves aren't ISO
images (until they are burned as such).

No, you would need it if you just have the physical CD but no ISO image
yet.
