If you are running an HMC you want to be aware of this matrix as you

We once had an hmc and firmware so out of date we had to take turns
upgrading each other until we got the latest. If you are running an hmc
you want to be on V7 - it rocks!

I submitted the following feed back to infocenter:

Trying to use that to see what level of firmware is required by the os.
The link suggested in step 1 does not list anything like
V5R4 requires firmware such and such
or
V6R1 requires firmware such and such
If it does it is totally lost in obscurity.

Step 2 is an invalid link.
