Thanks. Fortunately I don't think this will be an issue since the only S36 code on this box is custom, not in Mapics. I have come to find out that the version of Mapics that is on this box is native os400 code. If true, this should make the upgrade easier to deal with.

I think it was STRM36... I think GO CMDM36 showed all the commands to
configure and manage the *M36 environment.

Assuming you could, how would you go about starting the *M36
environment?

Hm, just a WAG, but I'd bet this AS400 is running the *M36 environment,
which was removed from OS400 sometime around V4R4, I think. The *M36
was a dedicated S/36 SSP runtime, and not related to the S36EE (System
36 Emulation Environment). It was common to use *M36 to support a
binary-compatible S/36 environment, that did not require any coding
changes to the S/36 application code.

I doubt running this in S36EE is possible, since you must have source
code to port the app. Not familiar with Mapics...

Anyone have any experience doing an as/400 upgrade with Mapics XA S/36
on the box? I am looking into what it would take to get a Model 600 at
V4R2 upgraded to a Model 520 at v5r4 or v6r1.

I don't know if Infor (owner of Mapics) is going to be of any help.
