It really needs to be in the same Subnet as the 520-E4A for the BOOTP to
connect between the PC and the IBM i on the initial setup.

Subject: LAN Console: a "can't get there from here" problem. Suggestions?

Just went to start the process of migrating the console, and realized:

1. The only WinDoze box physically in the same room as the new 520/E4A
is outside the firewall, while the new 520/E4A itself is inside.

2. Everything that is both physically in the same room AND inside the
firewall is either OS/400 or Linux.

3. The software is on a DVD, and relatively few of the WinDoze boxes in
the building have DVD drives.

I think I've gotten remote access to a DVD drive from my WinDoze box
before, but I've always heard that it's a good idea to have a console in
the same room as the box.
