Hello,

I have a question regarding tape drive sharing on LPARS.

There AS400 Box(V5R3) has 5 LPARS and 4 Tape Drives. The tape library is
TS3310(Media Class Ultrium 3).We also have BRMS installed for Backup and
Tape Management.

3 of the 4 drives are dedicated to 3 partitions. The other 2 partitions share
the 4th drive.

Can you please let me know the following:

1.How the 4 th tape drive will be shared between the 2 partitions to take
the backups?.

2.Does this mean that the backups on these 2partitions will take place at
different times?

3.In event of failure of any one of these 4 Tape Drives ,how can the other
tape drives be moved to the related partition to take the backup?

Many Thanks
Sneha
