Pete,

Thanks for the ideas .... we were just starting down this road when the
problem was found to be a hardware issue. The customer just replaced a
bad SAS card and the problem went away.

Rich,

I have quite a few machines on Power 6 with V6R1 and no performance
problems at all. Kind of weird on the WRKSYSSTS, have you looked to see if
your job tables need to be compressed? Do you have the correct number of
jobs defined (QTOTJOB and QACTJOB). I have seen when setting these numbers
too low that commands like WRKSYSSTS and WRKACTJOB are very slow.

Do they are QPFRADJ set to 0 or 3 (my preference is 3)? Is it that
the machine pool is starving for memory and page faulting like crazy?

Pete

Subject: Power 6 Performance Problem

I have a customer that just upgraded to a Power 6 machine running i/OS
6.1. One of our applications is experiencing a performance issue on the
box. IBM has traced this to calls to the QWCRSSTS API which we use in
the
application. The customer is also experiencing performance issues on the
system when they run the WRKSYSSTS command, a delay of 1-2 minutes before
the command responds.

In all other aspects, the customer's machine seems to fly.

Are there any Power 6 installs out there who have seen this issue?
