Assuming you have multiple LPARs and therefore an HMC @ version 7.

From the HMC click on "systems management" then "servers"
use the check box in front of the server in question.

clicking on the double ">>" and select "properties" then "I/O"

you will see a list of all the hardware in the server.

There is also a column "owner" which tells which LPAR owns the hardware.
for "desired hardware" ie. switchable tape/dvd the LPAR that currently has it is shown.

With respect to the unused devices look for "Unassigned" under the "owner" column.

Hello,
I'm trying to put together a chart reflecting a list of devices on the
POWER6 system.
Using the SYSPLAN I was able to locate the devices current defined to
each partition. It appears that this does not reflect a list of unused
devices.
So my question is where can I find a list of these unused devices?
TIA,
Rogers
