Need someone with intricate Power5 520 hardware experience to help me please. I would like to activate the second disk back plane, secondary optical drive, add a dedicated LAN card, and add a dedicated disk controller for an AIX or Linux partition. A real stand-alone installation, not one hosted from i5/OS. I have been reading the system builder and playing with SPT. This looks possible to me, but I would like some reassurance from an expert before spending any money to procure the necessary features? Which brings me to the second question, what exactly do I need? In my SPT mock up I assigned the embedded IDE controller for AIX/Linux, added a 2640 DVD drive in the second optical bay, added a 0628 (5703) disk/tape controller in C4, put some drives in the new back plane (6594), added a 5701 Ethernet card in C2, and assigned the USB controller to the proposed AIX/Linux partition. Does this configuration make sense? I would be happy to attach the sysplan
document. Any other advice, this project is new territory for me? Thanks
