I couldn't wait for our upgrade to 6.1 so we're using PDFing - you really
don't even need overlays/page segments with that software. They're a pretty
small shop (one guy?), but tech support is quite responsive and the software
works really well at converting AS400 reports into colorized, logo-ized
PDFs.

Our afpds report is written to an outq, which is pointed to an IP address.
The IP address is that of a Windows PC on which the PDFing software is
running. PDFing captures the report, does its thing to add the
logos/lines/replace text, then PDF-converts and emails the reports (invoices
and envelopes in our case). For less expensive than the native software I
looked at.

Subject: Color overlays - convert spool to pdf

I have a request to take current forms that are scanned into black & white
overlays, the used in reports that are emailed (afpds spool to pdf with
Gumbo tools) to customers - to change the forms to color.
I understand a lot of the issues with color overlays have been resolved.
Is there a doc type (.doc or .pdf or .tiff, etc) that works best for a very
clear image?
Any difference between overlays & page segments?
Any other issues?
Jim Franz
