I'm running 1.4.2, which I donwloaded from Sun's site (after many dire warnings from Sun about the security flaws in 1.4.2).

iNav runs the System Debugger just fine, except that I couldn't find any way to get into the debug manager via iNav, so I couldn't use all of the system debugger's features.

Which version of the Java runtime would you recommend, and can I get an older version from Sun's site?

What about using the iSeries System Debugger via the Navigator? Does it function the same as the standalone System Debugger? I tried using it and had no problems debugging a program with an SEP (Service Entry Point).

Try downgrading to an older Java Virtual Machine.
I had lots of problems like this when using the current JVMs.
